The Front Brake Rotor of Front Brake Rotor of SSANGYONG MUSSO 4144136000 has multiple surface treatments, including slotted and drilled designs, which enhance the brake disc's heat dissipation performance. It also offers spray paint, in different colors to meet the requirement of customers, black and silver color is the most popular. The spray paint will be anti-rust. Additionally, laser blue phosphate treatment improves the brake disc's performance and extends its service life.

The front brake rotor sits exposed outside the wheel hub, and unsightly rust forms easily on its surface. Numerous Ssangyong vehicle owners have reported that within just a few months after installing low-cost replacement rotors, severe rust develops along the rotor edge and mounting flange. The non-friction surfaces (mounting flange, rotor rim, outer side of ventilation ribs) of part No.4144136000 are protected by a dual-coating system consisting of zinc-aluminum composite coating plus black topcoat.

Processing Procedures:
1. Full shot blasting to Sa 2.5 cleanliness standard with surface roughness controlled at Ra 4–7μm.
2. Dip-coating with chrome-free eco-friendly water-based flake zinc-aluminum slurry, spin-dried followed by sintering at 300°C to achieve a coating thickness of 10–15μm.
3. Spray application of matte black heat-resistant silicone paint with a dry film thickness of 20–25μm, then cured at 220°C.

Performance Specifications:
1. Neutral salt spray test (ASTM B117): No red rust after a minimum of 600 hours of testing.
2. Heat resistance: No chalking under short-term exposure up to 400°C (the operating temperature of front brake rotor mounting flanges can reach 300°C).
3. Stone chip resistance (SAE J400): Rated Grade 5B (minimal coating loss with no bare substrate exposure).

The friction surface remains bare metal and is only coated with a thin layer of volatile anti-rust oil prior to packaging, which can be effortlessly wiped off using a brake cleaner dampened cloth before installation. This coating system has passed comparative testing against Ssangyong's original factory corrosion resistance requirements, delivering over five times longer salt spray endurance than the factory's original phosphating coating.

🏭 Factory & Processing Workshop | Large-Size Front Brake Disc with Higher Precision Requirements
Front brake discs feature larger diameters and greater thickness, resulting in substantially higher processing difficulty compared to rear discs. We have customized heavy-duty production lines exclusively for part number 4144136000 with four mandatory control checkpoints as follows:
1. Casting: Resin sand molding + intermediate frequency furnace smelting
Samples of molten iron are taken from each furnace to test the contents of carbon (3.2%-3.4%), silicon (1.8%-2.1%), manganese (0.6%-0.8%) and sulfur (≤0.12%). After pouring, one out of every 100 castings is sampled for tensile strength test with a required minimum value of 250 MPa. Metallographic inspection is also performed to ensure Type A graphite accounts for no less than 85% and pearlite content reaches at least 95%.

2. Machining: High-torque double-spindle vertical lathe plus in-process dimensional measurement
Rough and finish turning of outer circle, inner cavity, bilateral friction surfaces and mounting flange is completed in a single clamping setup. Key control tolerances:
• Parallelism of two friction surfaces: ≤0.018mm
• End face runout between mounting surface and friction surface: ≤0.04mm
• Position tolerance of five bolt holes: φ0.12mm

3. Dynamic Balancing: 100% full inspection with double-sided weight correction
Hofmann dynamic balancing machines are adopted to measure unbalance at three angular positions for every single rotor, with the allowable unbalance limited to ≤6g·cm per side. Excessive unbalance is corrected by material removal via drilling for a maximum of two attempts; non-compliant rotors are sent back for remelting directly.

4. Cooling Fin Inspection: Random destructive sampling of two pieces per production batch
An endoscope is used to verify full penetration of all 36 ventilation channels and check for residual molding sand. A caliper is applied to measure fin thickness with a permissible thickness uniformity tolerance of ±0.3mm.

In addition, one specimen is randomly selected from each batch for thermal fatigue bench testing: 50 consecutive emergency braking cycles from 100km/h to standstill are carried out on the brake test bench, followed by crack inspection on disc surfaces after full cooling. All costs incurred from this test are borne by our factory without any cost pass-through to customers.

FAQ

Q1: The front brake discs of my 2015 Ssangyong Rexton are worn out. Can part No. 4144136000 serve as a direct replacement? What is the bolt pitch circle diameter?
It can be replaced directly. The front wheel of the Rexton features 5 wheel bolts with a PCD of 139.7mm and a centre bore of 90mm, which is a full match. The standard original thickness of the front brake disc is 26mm; replacement is mandatory once your existing disc wears down below 24mm. We recommend measuring the thinnest section of the old disc with a vernier caliper after removal. Front brake pads must also be replaced at the same time, and semi-metallic formulation (same as original Ssangyong specification) is recommended.

Q2: After installation, the steering wheel shakes slightly when braking at high speeds. Is this caused by defective brake discs?
In most cases, the issue does not stem from poor disc quality. Please complete two inspections first. First, was rust on the hub flange thoroughly cleaned prior to fitting? Even a 0.1mm rust spot can tilt the mounted disc and result in runout exceeding 0.1mm instantly. Second, were the wheel bolts tightened in three staggered steps per the torque specification of 110–130 N·m specified in the service manual? Uneven torque will also lead to disc wobble. If the shaking persists after both checks, measure disc runout with a dial indicator; contact us for support should the reading exceed 0.08mm.

Q3: I am a wholesaler based in Australia and intend to place a trial order for 200 pieces. Ssangyong vehicles have a considerable vehicle parc in Australia; can you supply documentation certifying compliance with ADR standards?
Our brake discs are manufactured under the ISO 9001:2025 quality management system, with third-party material and performance testing conducted for every production batch. Front brake discs are not subject to mandatory ADR certification in Australia (this requirement only applies to brake pads), yet we can supply engineering reports verifying material composition and dimensional compliance with OEM specifications. Existing Australian clients have imported our Ssangyong brake discs without customs clearance complications. The 200-piece order can be shipped via consolidated container to Melbourne or Sydney Port with an approximate transit time of 22 days.

📌 Industry Updates:

  • The vehicle stock of Ssangyong SUVs is rising steadily across East Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Data from the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association shows Ssangyong (now KG Mobility) posted around 120,000 global sales in 2024, with the Korando and Rexton as its flagship models. The front brake rotors of these vehicles need replacement roughly every 50,000 to 70,000 kilometres, creating a peak replacement demand between 2025 and 2026.
  • Front rotor coating has become a key selection criterion for wholesalers. Previously, coating treatment was only prioritized for rear brake rotors; nowadays, front rotors are exposed to the elements, and rust formation directly shapes buyers' initial judgements on product quality. Our zinc-aluminium composite-coated part No.4144136000 delivers outstanding performance in salt spray testing. Multiple Middle Eastern clients have reported only faint white speckles along rotor edges after eight months of outdoor storage.
